Vision of our Volunteer Program
Please note – we are currently full with 2022 applications, but we will reopen the callout later in the year for new opportunities.
Welcome to our brand new volunteer program! With creativity, DIY spirit, accessibility and inclusivity at its core, the program is based on principles that have kept 107 a thriving hive of creative activity for almost two decades.
With its flexible structure made up of both ready-made roles, opportunities to choose your own adventure and monthly info sessions, the new program is designed to support you where needed. No matter what skills you have and what responsibilities you are willing to take up, we will do our best to accommodate you. Design your own role, pitch a project!
Volunteering is for ANYONE who would like to get involved. EVERYONE is invited to participate in 107’s many welcoming, respectful, safe, fun, creative and experimental activities.
We believe volunteering should always be of mutual benefit. At 107, individual volunteers and the organisation as a whole work together on creative and community-oriented projects, and ultimately towards REAL positive social change.
As we want every volunteer who joins our team to have a positive, fun and rewarding experience, we’ve made sure that our program follows the ethical principles outlined by Volunteering Australia, the national body for volunteering in not-for-profit organisations.

Photographer/Videographer
Do you love taking pics at creative events, or crafting video highlights?
Require:
- Volunteer casual position
- Sydney – Redfern, Green Square (Zetland), and offsite event spaces
- 4.5 hours per week (variable)
- Varying days
Art Somewhere Program Coordinator
Do you enjoy creating art, getting messy, and having a chat?
Require:
- Volunteer casual position
- Sydney – Redfern, Green Square (Zetland), and offsite event spaces
- 4.5 hours per week (variable)
- Wednesday, Saturday
Communications Assistant
Do you have a passion for design, written communication and multimedia?
Require:
- Volunteer casual position
- Sydney – Redfern
- Casual 8 hours per week
- Tuesday-Friday possible Sundays
Events Invigilator
Do you have a passion for people and community and want to be a face of 107 Projects?
Require:
- Volunteer part time position
- Sydney – Redfern & Green Square (Zetland)
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A passion for people and community.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
Gallery Assistant
Do you have an eye for detail and a whiz at using hand held tools?
Require:
- Volunteer casual position
- Sydney – Redfern
- Minimum 6 hours per fortnight
- Tuesday & Wednesday
Gardening Assistant
Are you a keen gardener with a love for rooftop gardens, planter boxes and pot plants?
Require:
- Volunteer casual position
- Sydney – Redfern
- 2-4 hours
- Tuesday-Saturday
Gardening Coordinator
Are you a gardening enthusiast with a creative flair for design, ecosystems and aquaponics?
Require:
- Volunteer part time position

Venue Maintenance Coordinator
Are you a master at maintenance and handy at fixing and painting DIY bits and bobs?
Require:
- Volunteer part time position
- Sydney – Redfern & Green Square (Zetland)
- 1 – 2 days per week (variable)
- Monday in Redfern: 6-8 hours shift
- Wednesday in Green Square: 5-6 hours shift
Window Box Coordinator (currently filled)
Would you like to coordinate and curate a mini art exhibition for emerging artists and display your own artwork?

About 107 Projects
107 Projects is a creative community organisation advancing culture in Sydney. 107 Projects promotes, plans, presents and produces arts and cultural community development initiatives. We connect the arts, education and business to make social change and encourage people to live creatively. Our services include operating two facilities in Redfern and Green Square, public art activations, placemaking and creative projects.
At the heart of 107 Projects is a diverse range of staff and volunteers from various backgrounds and experience helping deliver creative programs, maintain building essentials and administration. Volunteers are fundamental to 107 Projects’ ongoing commitment to community engagement and future growth. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a new volunteer member, your contribution is vital and highly valued.
