About the program 

107 Projects invites members of the community from all age groups and ethnicities to join in and have fun by getting together and creating various art projects. Workshops range from life drawing, calligraphy and poetry, painting, and much more. Art Somewhere provides the materials, space and support to try out new things in a friendly and safe environment. The Redfern and Green Square sites are disability accessible and close to public transport.

 

About the role

Do you enjoy creating art, getting messy, and having a chat?

107 Projects is looking for a friendly events person who can help us with the Art Somewhere workshops. This person will set up and facilitate with activities, engage with community members, tidy materials and pack down equipment. You will be one of the faces of Art Somewhere – meeting and greeting our participants, taking down their details, checking off the attendee list and most importantly… socialising. A warm and welcoming attitude is key when liaising with participants, they may ask for creative guidance, help with their art work or simply want to have fun. 

 

This is a casual role with most workshops running for three hours at a time, the Art Somewhere Program Coordinator will need to be at the venue one hour prior and half an hour after the workshop concludes. If you are unable to commit to four and a half hours, please apply anyway and let us know how many hours you can offer. You will need to organise your own travel to and from the site or offsite event space, however once you are at the venue everything is provided for you, just bring yourself.

 

Experience & Primary Responsibilities

  • Set up workshop space, iPad/laptop for attendee list, refreshments
  • Responsible for taking down details of participants not on the attendee list
  • Introducing participants to each other
  • Responsible for cleaning and tidying materials
  • Responsible for packing down equipment
  • Administrative task: fill out ‘end of shift’ feedback form

 

Required Skills/Traits

  • Basic computer skills- setting up an iPad/laptop and using the internet
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Can work collaboratively 
  • Careful handling of food and refreshments

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience using online software- Eventbrite and Google forms 
  • Experience using a digital camera 
  • Experience using social media
  • Previous experience in coordinating community art activities
  • Working with Children Check

 

Remuneration 

As a volunteer position, the volunteer agrees to perform tasks of their own free will, no remuneration is to be given. From time to time there may be access to free tickets, opportunities and invitations to participate in programs and events.
