Instances is a photography, text & audio work that explores the instances that make us human. People from the Redfern / Waterloo & Green Square areas of Sydney have shared stories that reflect our diverse community.

There are instances in every day and every life where we feel a myriad of emotions; happiness, sadness, ecstasy, disappointment, anger, contempt. The instances that make up our everyday lives gives us insight into who we are & how we operate & through these small, human moments we can find a connection to others, no matter how different our circumstances. Instances is a photography & text exhibition, as well as an online space that will highlight people's instances within the community of Redfern / Waterloo & Green Square.

As part of Cartographica, exploring the art and science of mapping, join us at Joynton Avenue Creative Centre for a special preview installation of Instances, highlighting local stories, and the opportunity to add your story to an evolving community map.

Head to the Opening Night 25th October to meet the artist behind the project, Jamie Gray, and discover new local stories, and come back for our Social Friday on 1st November to create your very own customised printed map in a special collaboration with 107 residents The Rizzeria.
