Wait, what? explores inexactness as a subject matter. Through the works of four early career artists, this exhibition trades fixed or literal representations in favour of content that isn’t so easy to decipher. By employing abstract methodologies, the artists enable various disruptions to the process of viewing; namely, through the use of montage, misdirection and obscurity - to defy and defeat any glimpse of a linear narrative. In exploration of discourses relating to personal and collective memory, industrial and mechanical form, pattern, as well as the hybridity, this exhibition settles not for a singular closed reading, but rather a disorientation - to veer away from the steady structures that ground us and into disparity.
