Two Up

TYPE: TALK

WHEN: 6–9pm – 26 Jul 2015

Two Up is a talk series that combines two completely unrelated topics in back to back lectures. The floor is then opened up to the audience for a fun and impulsive round of questioning, encouraging interaction between speakers and ideas.

Two Up is for inquisitive minds both young and old. It’s a bit silly and very educational. In a world of increasing specialisation Two Up creates a space where get outside of your box.

This round is throwing together Ben Brooks discussing Drone Regulations and artist and curator Zanny Begg talking about the influence of amusement parks on contemporary art.

Ben Brooks / Fresh faced from a global conference on unmanned aerial vehicles in Switzerland, Ben Brooks will hone in on all the things you have never even considered about flying drones. The words laws and regulations never seemed so exciting when they are in the same melting pot as ethics or surveillance.

Zanny Begg / As amusement parks keep around town keep shutting down, artist and curator Zanny Begg believes their memory has inspired generations of local artists. From the grotesque and obscure to the psychedelic and adrenaline fuelled. Let’s take a trip back to your childhood to the rollercoasters, the haunted houses and the large variety of food you can get on a stick.
