Two Lands, One Body

TYPE: EXHIBITION

SPACE: GALLERY

WHEN: 10 Jul 2019 – 22 Jul 2019

COST: FREE

Emma Constantine’s work is interested in play, creative movement and the human form. In ‘Two Lands, One Body’, the body as a form interacts with nature through creative movement, while natural objects become static dance partners and vast landscapes become a platform for the body to move in.

In 2018, the artist spent time in four Australian states in the space of five months during which she created a body of work that displays the vast beauty and uniqueness that exists across Australia, with each piece capturing what struck her most about being there. In 2019, she returned home to England and continued her practice: interacting with a colder climate and created a new body of work that displays some of her relationship to her homeland.

These two lands are now seen alongside each other in ‘Two Lands, One Body’. In the videos, prints and poems, we can find contrast, comparisons and similarities, as well as the artist’s own exploration of her relationship with each country.

Exhibition opens Wednesday 10th July | 6-8pm.

Continues until Sunday 22nd July.

Gallery open Wednesday – Sunday, 11am – 5pm.
