You're invited to Storytime Net Weaving - a prayer & blessing ceremony by the incredible celebrated indigenous artist, Nadeena Dixon for the Made in Redfern month-long Festival. Nadeena will teach the significance of First Nations skyworld cosmology that explains our interconnectedness to each other and Mother Earth and to all living beings represented using the symbology of a large net.
In this workshop, Nadeena will use mixed materials and provide a template fabric pendant to stitch, weave and write words using posca paints and markers to create a prayer message of thanks and gratitude for Gadigal Country and blessings of our family and communities where we live, work, dream and play - to create our beautiful prayer pendants to attach to our net. Then the community will gather to perform a blessing with a smoking ceremony to smoke the net while we attach our prayer pendants so that our prayers can be sent up to the skyworldland with the sacred smoke. This is an incredible experience not to be missed.
Saturday 22 April, 10:30 - 12:30pm
