Why should kids have all the fun? Play and create with all the latest robots and electronic gadgets in these fun sessions for the whole family and over 18s.

About this Event

Joynton Avenue Creative Centre, in partnership with City of Sydney, is bringing a whole day of play with robots, coding equipment and electronics as part of National Science Week! Drop-in for our free play sessions or register for our low cost STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts and Maths) workshops running throughout the day.

Program:

10:00-3pm: Ozobots/Edisons - free drop-in

Build a rubber band helicopter that flies, send the ozobot through a maze, get creative with electronics and robotics. Just BYO imagination and get constructing.

10:00-3pm: Cardboard Construction Zone - free drop-in

'Not a Box' – Using recycled cardboard, create rockets, rovers, robots, planets in a free drop in creation (space) station.

10:00-3pm: Wind Tube - free drop-in

Make a flying machine or space junk from recycled materials and watch it soar through the wind tube – just need to bring their own imagination and get constructing.

10:00-11am: Little Bits - free with RSVP

Combine littleBits electronic building blocks to create fun electrical circuits. All ages - children must be accompanied by an adult.

10:00-12:00pm: Makers Play Lab Lego Robotics - $10 (limited spots!)

"Space Exploration" Lego Robotics: Makers will design, create and code a space rover to solve a chosen design challenge. Ages 6-13.

11:00am-12:30pm: Electrocraft - Light Up Keychain Creatures - $10 (limited spots!)

In this adults class, you'll experiment with conductive thread, LEDs and soft circuitry to create a light-up key chain creature with Bobbin and Ink! Attach it to a bag to keep a mini spotlight close at hand while you rummage for your keys. This is a quick and simple introduction to sewable tech. Ages 16+ (Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the session).

12.00pm-1.00pm: Scribble Bots - free with RSVP

Use a DC motor and recycled parts to make a jittery drawing robot to take home. All ages - children must be accompanied by an adult.

1:00pm-3:00pm: Makers Play Lab Claymation - $10 (limited spots!)

“Outer Space” Claymation Workshop: Makers will explore outer space through the art of claymation to create their own stop motion animation. Ages 6-13.

1:30pm-3:00pm: Electrocraft - Light Up Keychain Creatures - $10 (limited spots!)
