Speakers’ Corner 2.0: Drug Law Reform

TYPE: 107 PRESENTS, SPECIAL EVENT, TALK

WHEN: 2-3pm – 7 Apr 2019

COST: FREE

WHERE: The Domain, opposite the Art Gallery of NSW

For 140 years Speakers’ Corner has been open to everyone every Sunday.

When controversial issues like conscription have been discussed, over 100,000 have gathered in The Domain to listen and learn. Prime Ministers, playwrights and plumbers have all addressed the crowds.

With a live stream inviting comments and questions from all over the world, Speakers' Corner 2.0 aims to broaden the discussion. Think TED talks mixed with Q&A but back to the literal grassroots where anyone has a chance to participate.

Join Speakers' Corner 2.0 on Sunday April 7th, where their speakers will be discussing drug law reform in Australia, including pill testing at festivals, sniffer dogs and strip searches, and the 'Portugal model' of decriminalisation.

Speakers include:

Gino Vumbaca, President, Harm Reduction Australia

Jess Miller, former City of Sydney Council Deputy Lord Mayor

Cate Faerhmann, Greens MLC

Dr Caitlin Hughes, National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre

Marianne Jauncey, Director, Sydney Uniting Medically Supervised Injecting Centre

Jay Bacik, talkback radio host, retired ordained Minister
