Amnesty's Meaningful Movie Group hosts a monthly social event at 107 Projects, Redfern to support upcoming and rising creatives from around the world with an angle for social change. After last month's sold-out event of the multiple award-winning film Sonita, Amnesty's Meaningful Movie will be having an exclusive one-off screening.

"The intense and suspenseful portrait of an Afghan teen's desire to change the world" (SBS)

Sonita is a powerful story of a young rapper who is on a quest to become the next Michael Jackson but suddenly finds out that her fate as an Afghan woman is to become a child bride. Amnesty's Meaningful Movie team has a creative flair to select films that have consequential values. They are excited to announce that they will be showcasing this film in support of women’s rights and to everyone out there who is not afraid to use the means of expression, whether it’s a pen, microphone, or a camera.

Amnesty's Meaningful Movie Group recent event involved Ollie Henderson who shared and taught us about fashion activism followed by the screening of Everyday Rebellion and an online Q&A with filmmakers Riahi Bros for perspectives about freedom of speech and political activism.
