Soft Concepts
Inna Gobina & Tatiana Gvozdeva
In Soft Concepts the textile artists Inna Goubina and Tatiana Gvozdeva explore the permeability of boundaries between seemingly set categories and binary notions such as art and craft, traditional and urban, natural and artificial. In this collection silk, wool, man-made and natural fibres and upcycled elements blend seamlessly, reflecting the illusory nature of concrete categorisation and defiant of any notion of isolation. The tactile nature of the act of felting, and the act of donning a piece of wearable art both speak of the possibility of contact, warmth, communication – the unending transaction of energy, knowledge and feeling that is human interaction. Both artists see felting as a live therapeutic medium. Their work reflects their artisanal journeys across the borders of nations, methods and styles.
