the NOW now Edition VI
Dedicated to the experimental and the spontaneous, edition VI features three solo sets of electro-acoustic improvisation, on the performative end of the sound spectrum. From noise to narrative.
Sam Gill: alto saxophone and electronics
Sam is an incredible saxophonist and composer who has travelled extensively in the US and Europe, studying, listening, diving-in-head-first. His music combines the maze-like melodic approaches of Tim Berne, the romance of a Norwegian Fjord and the electronic over-drive of Kevin Drumm (without the giant PA, this is relative).
Yolanda Frost: percussion and electronics
Yolanda is a percussionist and performer diving deep into the philosophical implications of composition and theatre as it relates to improvised music making. We enter with curious ears.
Sonya Holowell: voice and other
Sonya's background in classical music has been superceded by a curiosity for the moment, and a desire to make a music relevant to her experience in a post-colonial Australia. No mean feat.
This will be a beautiful, intimate evening of music.
Starts on the dot of 7:30pm.
Doors at 7:00.
20% of proceeds will go the Asylum Seekers Centre in Newtown.
