Notes on Watching

TYPE: TALK

WHEN: 7-9pm – 13 Oct 2016

COST: FREE

In three provocative presentations, Voyeurism in the world of surveillance will be explored. Starting in Redfern, we will hear from a community spokesperson from Tribal Warrior discussing life and history under the glaring eye of the police within the indigenous community. Moving into international waters, Dr Julian Droogan will discuss the dramatic changes in surveillance policy and practice in the so-called War on Terrorism - with a focus on Middle Eastern policy and digital surveillance. Closing the trio of presentations, we will move to the deeply personal - the nature of self-surveillance in the digital age, where artists are utilising social media to explore the eye of the outside world.
