107 will be home to Refugee Week events as part of the New Beginnings: Refugee Arts & Culture Festival 2017.  

Come and be inspired, challenged and informed through a mix of visual arts, film, installations and workshops during the New Beginnings Festival for Refugee Week.

Events include:

Singular/Plural exhibition
Singular/Plural will showcase artworks from both recently arrived and established NSW artists that explore the singular and plural aspects of contemporary community life. The exhibition will run from 21 June to 2 July.

Community Kouzina: Persian Tea Ceremony (Booked out)
Watch ritual become art during a traditional Persian tea ceremony performed by Ladan Haghighat on 24 June. Guests can sample Ladan's tea and learn how to make their own, using a mixture of herbs and spices.

Sydney Stories screening
Experience a night of film on 29 June. The screening will showcase shorts created by newly arrived refugees that explore the concepts of place and belonging.

Meet the artists
Artists exhibiting in Singular/Plural will also facilitate two workshops on 1 July. Sit, relax and learn a unique tapestry technique from Sayd Mahmod, and then see Sameer Dakhil's demonstration of handcrafted engraving work.
