Law for Creatives Workshop Series
Three Friday morning workshops presented by Arts Law focusing on different legal issues for artists followed by a bookable advice clinic with limited one-to-one consultations.
Workshop 1 – Friday 30 October
Copyright and your creative practice: making it work for you.
Creating art often means creating copyright. Let us walk you through owning and using your copyright, as well as creating copyright with other people. We’ll talk about what happens if someone uses your copyright without your permission, and how to get permission if you’d like to use someone else’s work.
Workshop 2 – Friday 6 November
Dotting the i’s: understanding arts contracts
Artists often enter into contracts without being completely sure what it all means for them. This session will take you through what a contract is, and some of the key issues artists often deal with when negotiating arts contracts.
Workshop 3 – Friday 13 November
Growing up: legal issues for expanding creative practices
Being an artist often means being a business. In this session, we look at some of the issues involved in engaging other creatives in your growing business (contracting and employing) and your legal responsibilities when doing business in NSW.
