Sydney NOW presents FOR FOLK SAKE! ~ live original music ~ at 107 Redfern!
Come and join us on the fairy lit garden terrace on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 20 to be spellbound by three amazing original music acts: The High Falutin Roadhouse Band, Vigenser & Martin, and Marguerite Montes.

THE HIGH FALUTIN ROADHOUSE BAND
Highfalutin play nostalgic 80s indie-cowboy. We take inspiration from the alt-country greats from the 70s to the 90s, and bring a punk heart, a Springsteen soul, a little synth, and a little dustbowl to our country rock ‘n’ roll.

VIGNESER & MARTIN
Original, wild folk that resembles everything else.
This new duo packs hefty, emotional punches but have songs to heal the scars. You’ll swear you hear twins, with their driving rhythms and harmonies you can’t pick apart.

AU’s Lindsay Martin finally brings his sensitive strings and velvet vocals to the fore, while kiwi songstress Victoria Vigenser delivers gritty lyric with a magnificent voice. They present original music; thought-worthy songs and muscle-twitching tunes, with an occasional (often unrecognisable) traditional piece.

Martin and Vigenser first met as accompanists, never expecting to step up and take the stage together a few years later. After a handful of performances throughout Australia in 2018, audiences gave them no choice but to continue.
They have since played numerous AU and NZ festivals and shows, and have no plan to slow down. Now their hooky originals and crazy stories will have you enthralled

MARGUERITE MONTES

Marguerite Montes Comes from the only European desert in the South of Spain, Andalusia, Almeria. This city boasts the most ancient form of Flamenco dance directly linked to the original invading Moors. The 'Zambra' is rumoured to bring a great deal of personal sorrow to whoever sings it or dances it.

Marguerite decided early on that she would take the risk and perform the most mesmerising, sensual and telluric form of 'Duende' infused lament. This sentiment instructs everything Marguerite composes and sings. After an intriguing journey through Spain and France, Marguerite’s family eventually settled in Australia in the 1970s. Marguerite performing and composing music as she went.

Marguerite has toured extensively the Festival circuit in NSW and beyond with emotive bands such as twenty piece spectacular Salsa Band 'Kechevere', Latin Rockabilly Band 'Ted Heath Goes Latin', Afro-Cuban musician 'Jacinto Herrera' and flamenco Latin Jazz band 'Tiramisu'.

Marguerite composes and sings in her native Spanish and English. Her voice, her guitar and her songs are such as will spirit you away to places as warm, reassuring and beautiful as the sun on your face after a long cold winter.
