The Safety of Life at Sea

The Safety of Life at Sea is a band with a distinctly vintage vibe inspired by blues and soul as well as the classic songwriters of the 60's and 70's. The rhythm section takes a leaf out of the books of Stax and Motown, and the piano went for a weekend in New Orleans and never really came back. Their second album Foxy’s Farm was released in 2017.

Kay Proudlove

Engaging, emotional and witty, Kay is an indie-folk singer-songwriter with a remarkably agile, engaging, honest, soul-bearing voice and a wry, dry-ice sense of humour. With a live performance style that is much like being invited into her lounge room, her songs are truly stories set to melody, by turns relatable, humorous and heartbreaking.

The co-ordination that never showed up for Kay on any sort of sporting field has made itself known in a marriage of acoustic guitar, voice and lyrics that are practiced in the art of observation. Her songs highlight the commonalities between human beings, pulling at them like heartstrings. Creating an intimacy between audience and performer through vulnerability, Kay's live show can be tear jerking, smile inducing and likely to leave you asking whether all of the songs were about you.

After spending 2017 touring a hard-copy only release of a live album titled 'I Should Have Done This Ages Ago' and playing bucket list shows such as The Woodford Folk Festival, Kay has dedicated the first half 2018 to studio to create her newest release - a collection of songs that she says are a true reflection of her creative self, to be released this summer.

For Folk Sake

For Folk Sake is a monthly music night run by artists for artists. Ticket sales go towards paying artists for their craft and running the event. Launched by Sean Van Doornum in 2016 FFS has grown a strong community of patrons who come back time and time again to discover new music and be transported by the songs of local artists they love. Sean’s masterful sound engineering and welcoming attitude has left artists raving about their performer experience. Combined with the skilled hand of his beautiful wife Lauren Van Doornum on the door keeping punters well fed and watered, the event has bloomed gently into an unforgettable one. Sydney songwriter Christine Jane has recently joined the team as bookings and event manager after performing at a show that left her spellbound as much as the doting audience.
