Sydney NOW presents FOR FOLK SAKE!
~ live original music ~
BACK IN 2019 on the roof top at 107 Redfern!!

Come and join us on the fairy lit garden terrace on Saturday March 23 to be spellbound by three amazing live acts:

Lola Sola

Lola Sola is a kiwi singer-songwriter with a dynamic vocal range and emotive lyrics; blending folk, soul and a hint of blues.

Now based in Sydney, Australia, She has released one studio album ('Walking Back from Hell'- 2016) and 2 EP's ('Wild'- 2014, 'all I need'- 2018). She has enjoyed touring extensively throughout NZ and Australia for the past 3 years and she has successfully crowdfunded twice; to produce and tour her EP 'Wild' in 2015, and to fund her first music video for song 'Swim' which was filmed in West Auckland lead by kiwi director and actress Gal Hochman in 2017.

Lola is currently recording her newest single ‘Get It’, putting the last minute details into her next Australia & New Zealand tour, and trying desperately hard to not forget to take the rubbish out on Tuesdays.

"[Walking back from Hell] is raw, jammed packed full of soul and emotion. Lola's cool sultry voice paired with her sentimental songwriting creates haunting tracks."

The Mango Balloon

Julian Curwin's The Mango Balloon is essentially a stripped-back chamber version of The Tango Saloon, with a lighter sound adding lounge, exotica and jazz to the larger band’s tango/western blend. Recently exploring various duo configurations for wild fun and adventure.

'His sextet is a little chamber orchestra capable of realising a breadth of sonic options with precision, humour, passion and understatement. Sydney would be a duller place without Julian Curwin.' - The Mango Balloon album review, Sydney Morning Herald

My Sauce Good

(MSG) is a tasty Sydney-based group with soulful film-noir-esque female vocals, groovy percussion, fat bass & gritty guitar-driven sounds.

The repertoire is an international sound - a mix of originals and a handful of cool covers, 1960's Gainsbourg boogie meets soulful torch song ballads and a hint of world-rock and new-wave weirdness.

Recent shows at Cockatoo Island 'Sunset Sessions', East Sydney Community Arts Centre (The Experiment), Hollywood Hotel, and Venue 505 have seen the band hone their sound and it's electric!

Expect to hear French, Spanish and English from exceptional theatrical multilingual chanteuse Laura Brozky fronting this intriguing and powerful Quartet.

Dirk Kruithof guitar
Tim Bradley percussion
Peter Firth bass
