Alchemy – the magical process of transformation, creation or combination.
To appropriate the world’s first blunt instrument in all of its turgid glory - to cut, reduce and compartmentalise, then repeat, rearrange, revise and re-assign - is to produce an image that feminises and soothes through one lens, while it nips and snips at the vulnerability behind the patriarchal armour through another.
Inspired by the comedy stylings of the late, great Valerie Solanas, using scissors, repetition and a little bit of sticky, here, the oldest weapon on the block becomes a MANdala – a transformative tool to facilitate meditation, assist with healing, and support the human search for completeness and self-unity.
