Crop Swap on the Rooftop

TYPE: WORKSHOP

WHEN: 9.30-11am – 5 Mar 2017

COST: FREE

Do you grow too much basil, have too many seeds, or is your freezer not big enough for your end of season pesto? Simply, Crop Swap Sydney is a cashless market that is helping to build local community, reduce food waste and help people eat better, at a lesser cost. Join us to meet your neighbours, swap excess produce and fairly barter with other like-minded people for fresh, local and delicious food, edible plants, seeds or gardening goods.

Includes a free talk by Heather from Milkwood Permaculture on the history of the 107 garden and some of the permaculture practices in place. Bring an old shirt and stick around for a gardening bee - give the garden a much-needed spruce up and pick up some gardening tips along the way.

Please note that it’s well worth being an early bird at this event as the venue has a strict 55 person capacity on the rooftop.

It’s hard to believe, but we often end up with surplus produce at the end of our events. In an effort to reduce food waste even further, and to put the fruits of your labour to good use, we have partnered with The Food Pantry in Marrickville for our Inner-West swaps. This organisation provides free fruit, vegetables and bread to those in need. There will be a dedicated box on the day that can be added to at any time.

Not sure what to bring? Checkout our past events. Even if you don’t have anything growing at the moment come along and we guarantee you’ll leave with plenty of inspiration. If you can’t make it, join the group to swap anytime.
