Colourful Chaos is a solo exhibition by emerging Australian artist Emmaleen Diaz from 5 to 19 June at 107 Redfern. Diaz art practice focuses on expressive portrait and abstract painting, enriched with vibrant colours and bold brush strokes reflecting the turblent world around us and her quest for light, happiness and harmony. Meet the artist on opening night Wednesday 5 June from from 5pm till 8pm.

Colourful Chaos is Diaz' reflection on the turbulent world we live in and her quest for light, happiness and harmony. Working with acrylic on canvas she uses bold brush strokes with a rich colour palette to create abstract and portraiture works that will bring a room to life.

"Often when I paint it is my way of escaping from the reality of what is happening around me. My abstract expressionist style using broad brush strokes and a strong bold colour palette allows me the freedom to express whatever I am feeling at the time. There is so much chaos happening in the world at present it is hard to see beyond the atrocities and the anger happening in communities all around us. So this exhibition is designed to bring some light, colour and happiness to the world in a chaotic sense, something to make people feel happy," said Diaz.

Diaz completed her Fine Arts degree at the National Art School in 2022.
