107 Presents with support from the City of Sydney are bringing modern master, Xueyi Bai, to Joynton Avenue Creative Centre to teach Chinese Calligraphy.

Calligraphy is traditionally said to be like meditation, quieting the heart and calming the mind by moving its Qi or energy in rhythm with the movement of the brush. You will be introduced to the tools of Chinese calligraphy, including rice paper, soft Chinese brushes, ink sticks and ink stones, to create delicate strokes and harmonious Chinese characters.

Xueyi Bai will teach the basic movements of dots and strokes on rice paper and at the end of the course you will have works of your own to take home and the techniques to make Chinese calligraphy an everyday skill. All levels are welcome. Tea and materials provided.

Spaces are very limited - sign up today!
