The Bebop Apocalypse

By Seriousboys

Marcus Graham and Seriousboys in association with 107 Projects present The Bebop Apocalypse - four special performances of 1950's beat poetry.

This is a celebration of, and ballsy homage to, the American beat poets of the 1950’s; Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Neal Cassaday, William S. Burroughs and Bob Kauffman. This handful of men were arguably the driving force behind the Beat Generation – responsible for forever expanding the world’s imagination and exposing the endless possibilities of the spoken and written word.

There will be live music, recorded music, solo and ensemble pieces, honorific portrayals of the Beat poets – all converging in this one hour, jazz bebop mash-up that erupts from the heart and swings to the beat. The Bebop Apocalypse is poignant, melancholic and thought-provoking, while at the same time, rude, shameless and hysterical. Seriously cool, cats.

Seriousboys is a blossoming not-for-profit co-operative theatre company which is currently populated by male performers of all ages, backgrounds, experience and training. What binds them is the collective love of words and the duty to which performers are honoured to pay them.
