Let our actions speak louder than these words is a series of reverse appliqued, hand cut and hand stitched banners. Each banner speaks like a proverb, although the phrases are more contemplative than demanding, they urge and provoke you to respond. They are hopeful and pragmatic, they want you to act but they won’t take away your choice to just walk on by.

Naomi Hamer sees her art as activism, often exploring the personal as political with a particular focus on feminism and the politics of seeking asylum in Australia. Her practice includes textiles, sculpture, installation and photography. Text and the woven form are prominent features in her work, often exploring experimental ways of weaving and creating three-dimensional forms.
