A Love, Art and Revolution Film Festival will showcase progressive short films in April 2023

North Productions, Green Left and 107 Projects have teamed up to exhibit films about First Nations’ resistance, environment campaigns, struggles for public housing and workers’ rights, refugee rights battles and films that explore revolutionary movements in the Global South.

The festival will take place at 107 Projects' new inner Sydney art and culture space, Community Building, 2 Davy St, South Eveleigh. It will feature four sessions with 28 short films. The maximum film length will be 15 minutes.

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their short films before March 2023 for free via Film Freeway.

This festival aims to showcase social justice filmmakers, films or music videos produced in the last five years.

Any genre is welcome and all entries are free. Each film selected receives a screening fee of $150.
There will be a people’s choice award decided by the audience at each session valued at $200.
The festival will take place in late April with the opening evening session on April 27 featuring films with the theme “Living poor in the land of plenty”.

Films showcasing the theme of “Global South in Revolt” and anti-racism struggles will be screened on April 28.

A “People and Planet Before Profit” theme will showcase First Nations and environment justice films during the late lunch session on April 29.

A final evening session on April 29 will showcase queer, feminist and progressive music videos.
Each session will be co-hosted by grassroots community groups and include speakers, performers and affordable food and drink.

An activist hamper will be raffled at the front door, with the proceeds going to the co-hosting groups.
