ArtsLab: Here we are again! Will celebrate this year’s second cohort of emerging artists as part of Shopfront's flagship artist residency program with a week-long festival of three new works by four emerging artists.

In the Performance Space:
Dalo Chips and Imli Chutney by Varuna Naicker
A new theatre work exploring three generations of a Fijian-Indian family, this play crapes off the gilding on the classic immigrant story and examines the cost of living up to the model minority myth.

Unkissed by Sarah Carroll
Your first kiss is weird. Not that Sam would know...she's never been kissed and she's not sure she ever wants to be. Unkissed is a comedy theatre cabaret that explores all things first kiss and what it is to live in a world where you are constantly shamed for being #unkissed.

In the Gallery:
Whispers and Tea by Saarah Hanif and Sivani Yaddanapudi
Whispers and Tea is a new gallery installation combining film and photography to capture the experience of balancing two aspects of an identity. Focusing on the dual experience of queerness, and South Asian culture, Whispers and Tea provides a new place to discuss how it feels to navigate the world with two contrasting identities.

In addition to the three new works, Shopfront will be hosting an Emerging Artists/Industry day on Saturday the 26th November. Ticket holders for this Saturday will be able to listen to artist panels, join in on VIP Industry Speed Dating events, and make use of a free bar and food as they network in the foyer.

Performances and panels will be AUSLAN interpreted on Saturday 26th.
