This workshop takes place at Joynton Avenue Creative Centre, Green Square.

Join award-winning author, Julie Chevalier for a two-hour workshop in writing microlit on the theme of Home.

Together, you will read and discuss some examples of microlit by Spineless Wonders’ authors on the theme of Home. Then Julie will walk you through some easy and inspiring writing exercises guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing and get you writing.

What To Expect

You will gain experience in reading, understanding and writing microlit. There will be time to draft a piece of writing on the theme of ‘home’, to workshop this piece in pairs and publish it using typewriters or index cards. You will also be invited to make a video-recording of your newly-minted microlit using the StoryBooth.

How to Register

About the Artist

Julie Chevalier is completing her second collection of short fiction and third collection of poetry. Permission to Lie, a collection of short fiction, was published by Spineless Wonders. She has co-edited three short fiction collections. Her microlit has been shown on the big screen at Federation Square in Melbourne and is frequently performed by actors at Little Fictions events. Her book, Darger: His Girls won the Alec Bolton Prize and was short-listed for the Western Australian Premier's Prize and Newcastle Poetry Prize.
