The A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Orchestra was coalesced in 2010 by seven like-minded individuals from the Sydney jazz and improvised music scene. The septet’s unusual sound stems from its unconventional line-up (two saxophones, trumpet, guitar, piano/organ, sousaphone, drums), and the unique musical experiences and interests of its members. Part improvisation ensemble, part chamber group, the group’s compositions come from each of its constituents, allowing for an intriguing array of musical styles and approaches to reveal themselves within one performance. The band will be recording shortly after this gig, so stay tuned for the upcoming A.C.R.O.N.Y.M Orchestra release. Not to be missed!

Paper Plane is an exciting young quartet hailing from Melbourne, Australia. These four have been steadily building their reputations as outstanding creative musicians on the Melbourne scene, playing in groups with artists such as James Morrison, Motion, Paul Williamson, Julien Wilson, Sarah McKenzie, Dave Ades, Lightly Toasted, James Annesley , Nashua Lee, The Meltdown, Tom Vincent, Stephen Magnusson, Aaron McCoullough, Aaron Choulai, and Jamie Oehlers among others. They have also featured on many prominent Australian recordings. When they first combined in 2011 to create Paper Plane they knew they’d hit upon something special and in late 2012 they recorded their debut release. Comprising eight stunning originals the music ranges from hauntingly lyrical to boisterous and playful, always delivered with masterful finesse and sincerity. The seemingly telepathic musical understanding between these four compatriots makes their live performances absolutely unforgettable.
