Sydney NOW presents FOR FOLK SAKE!
~ live original music ~
on the roof top at 107 in Redfern.
Come and join us inside (that's right, we have a lovely warm indoor space, which spills out onto the fairy lit community garden terrace) Saturday June 23rd to be spellbound by three incredible songwriters.
Sydney based singer/songwriter Estelle Conley performs folk music reminiscent of her heroines - Joni Mitchell, Patti Griffin and Eva Cassidy, to name a few. Her songs are sure to soothe the most savage of beasts with their sweet sweet tones and melodic riffs. A bit like yoga for the ears.
Julia Johnson is a psych-folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Live, you can expect to see her play a small menagerie of traditional folk instruments in her own non-traditional, weird ways. Banjo, autoharp and guitar ornament songs about childhood memories, heartache, and animals.
“[Johnson is]… someone it will pay to follow closely” – Sydney Morning Herald
“Love the playful guitar plucking and that lilt of Julia’s voice” – Zan Rowe, triple j
“Bat For Lashes reimagined as the soundtrack to the next party you throw in an opulent baroque chateau.” – Dom Alessio, triple j
