Our Creative Callout invites both established and emerging creatives to experiment and play. Got an idea that you need creative freedom to bring it to life? 107 offers a creative playground where you can take your creative practice to new places.
Through our creative callout, we’re giving access to subsidised creative spaces across our venues and pop-up activations, to provide opportunities for your ideas to come to life. FAQs
What is the Creative Program?
The 107 Creative Program is our seal of excellence! We have an ethos of creative excellence with a grassroots heartbeat that underpins everything we do, and our Creative Program is no exception. Think cutting edge, bold ideas across a multitude of artforms. Experimental? Yes please! Cross-discipline experiences? Yep! Multi-site, multi-temporal, multi-spacial media installations? Definitely!
What are you looking for in this Creative Callout?
We’re looking for bold new ideas that engage, connect and inspire audiences. 107 exists to support the advancement of culture, and we’re looking for creative projects that share this vision as well as our ethos of social inclusion, accessibility, and positivity.
Ideas, music, visual arts, performance – go wild! Presentation of new works, works in development, interdisciplinary practices, and community engagement tickle our fancy. Examples of submissions are exhibitions – particularly installations, projections, mixed media works, and multi-site / multi-temporal / multi-spacial media, as well as performances, music acts and tours, and events. That being said, we welcome all ideas, genres, and applications. We select on a criteria of artistic excellence, and aim to fit the cream of the crop into our Creative Program.
107 is an accessible and inclusive space and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds at all stages of their creative practice or career.
Why should I apply for the Creative Program?
We pride ourselves on presenting a diverse and cutting edge Creative Program each year. Being selected as part of our Creative Program means you will sit alongside 107 Residents and whats the word for past academics? Luminaries like Blak Douglas, Rosie Deacon, Madwing, Unfunded Empathy and more. Our Creative Program selectees also benefit from additional guidance and mentoring from the 107 team and extended network.
In addition, applicants to the Creative Program are automatically considered for up to 50% venue hire subsidy. 107 Projects is able to allocate a fixed amount of venue hire subsidy every year to support community-focused, creative, and original projects. The best way to access this subsidy is via the Creative Program.

Who can apply?
Applications are open to individuals, groups, not-for-profit organisations, corporations, sole traders… Everyone! We accept applications for projects across all creative disciplines, including music, visual art, performance, comedy, dance, podcasting, digital design, and more.
Do I have to be a traditional artist?
No! We love to work with emerging and independent curators and innovative creative producers, as well as directly with artists and creatives from all disciplines.
How are the Creative Callout applications judged?
The Creative Callout prioritises projects that fit one or more of our three criteria:
- Creative excellence
- Uniqueness or innovation
- Engagement with or relevance to the local Redfern, Eveleigh and Green Square communities
Applications are assessed by a panel of management staff, board members and external assessors, and selectees are chosen in accordance with how well your application addresses the above criteria.

What makes a successful application?
We want to see that you’ve thought out your proposal and have a strong sense of why it’s right for 107 (and why we’re right for you).
Be sure to include practical information like how you imagine your works will be displayed, how many attendees you expect, and how you will market your event.
If your idea is still in development, give us a detailed overview of the project so far and where you’d like it to end up (even if that changes), including a timeline of anticipated progression.

What dates are available?
This callout is for our 2024 Creative Program. If you are applying to hold an exhibition or performance season, spaces are generally limited to a maximum duration of two weeks at 107 Redfern or 4 weeks at 107 Green Square. Projects of longer duration will be considered in some circumstances.
During your application process, you will be asked to select two or more preferences for your event or exhibition to occur. If successful, we will do our best to allocate dates according to your preferences, but this may not always be possible due to existing bookings or concurrent applications. In this case, we will be in touch to organise a date that works for you.
What are the costs involved?
Depending on your idea, the venue, duration, and many other factors, the costs can vary. All Creative Program selectees are eligible for up to 50% subsidy on venue hire, and we will work with you to keep your outgoing costs as low as possible, and to work a viable self-generated income/revenue stream into your project where appropriate. We will support you in creating side-along programming to amplifies community engagement with your exhibition or event.
Here is an example of a two week exhibition at 107 Redfern
Gallery Hire + Opening Night: $2000
Subsidy: Up to 50% – eg 30% subsidy means your exhibition’s base cost would be $1400
Optional extras
Installation Assistant: $40 p/h
A/V tech: $80 p/h
We have payment plans available – chat to us about making weekly or monthly payments.
What is the opening night?
For all exhibitions we host an Opening Night on the first Wednesday of the exhibition, from 6pm-8pm. This is a great opportunity to celebrate your hard work with industry professionals, your friends, family and colleagues, and of course, 107! The Opening Night is included in the venue hire fee and includes event staff and access to the venue. You can choose to have a dry event or open the bar for sales. Our liquor licence doesn’t allow BYO, but you can add a bar tab or choose to pre-purchase drinks if you would like to offer a complimentary drink on arrival to your guests.
If you have additional programming you’d like to run alongside your exhibition, such as panel discussions or talks, the Opening Night is a great avenue to do so without any additional venue hire applied.
My event/program isn’t open to the public. Can I still apply?
