Salon Cesspool: Cut-Paste-Blurt-Scrawl Debut Night

TYPE: PERFORMANCE, SPOKEN WORD

SPACE: SOCIAL SPACE

WHEN: Doors 6.30pm, start 7pm. – 12 Jul 2018

COST: FREE

On Thursday the 12th, Salon Cesspool will kick off at 107 with the first of a series of themed nights exploring the murky depths of the mind, that darkness from which dreams, prophecies and artistic visions float upwards to the surface.

During this first instalment, spoken word performance will be interspersed with a series of blind drawing sessions, allowing the unconscious to express itself through acts of intuitive creation. After this first half of the night, scissors, glue and old magazines will be brought out, and we’ll create some collages together while enjoying a chat and a drink. A favourite mode of expression in Dada and Surrealism, the collage is perfectly suited towards revealing the uncanny and hilarious aspects of everyday reality by drawing together its constituent elements in unexpected ways. Cut, paste, blurt and scrawl your guts out.

During the event, there will be opportunities for open mic-style readings. Do you have a poem, story, rant or song you would like to share? Just contact Jasper at saloncesspool@gmail.com.

Let’s descend into the Cesspool, where the mind’s contents rot and bubble into new life!
