~ live original music ~
on the rooftop at 107 in Redfern.

Come and join us inside (that's right, we have a lovely warm indoor space, which spills out onto the fairy-lit community garden terrace) to be spellbound by three incredible acts.

eüsh

Sydney artist Sean van Doornum AKA eüsh has been popping up at bars and clubs around town for a number of years now, building a reputation for his heartfelt and precisely crafted folk-rock that swoons between deep melodic meditations and hook-laden choruses. Both haunting and charming, his newest tune ‘Forest Moon’ captures all that makes eüsh one of the best-kept secrets in town.

The track lyrically has a certain mysticism about it, using the natural world as a metaphor and compass for modern life. “It’s about the duality of energies in nature. Night/day, male/female etc. And the inevitable, intuitive and playful swing or fluctuation between the two. It’s about embracing duality and also finding the balance,” van Doornum says. “The lyric “Time to make a change” is a recognition and encouragement of the move towards more feminine/luna energies in society.”

‘Forest Moon’ is the first taste of eüsh’s fourth album Slow Play, and was largely recorded live at 107 Projects in Redfern with the current incarnation of the band. Ever searching for authenticity and rawness in the groups sound, it says a lot about the ability of the group and van Doornum’s focus on delivering the real deal.

Lady Lyon

Based in Sydney, Lady Lyon has been making a name for herself on the local folk scene for the last 6 years, watching, waiting, writing and whittling away her memories and experiences into songs that truly express who she is and what she has to say.

Her debut EP “Champion Blues” delves into the last 10 years of her life with songs like “The Captains Wife” derived from living in near isolation for three months in rural France working for a family with incredibly complex dynamics, “Champion Blues” a song about learning to live and forgive yourself of your mistakes and most recent “A Little More”, to find enough courage to change, despite fear.

Her unique playing style lends itself serenely to a pawn shop Ibanez with a few modifications and She takes pride in her honest brand of take me as you hear me songwriting.

After recording in 2017 with strategically placed accompaniments, Lady Lyon is taking 2018 with a running start & full band in tow.

Emad Younan

Sydney singer/songwriter, Emad Younan, performs his unique brand of finger-picking, melancholic, melodic folk music. Drawing inspiration from his late brother, the brilliant Jesse Younan, Emad is a seasoned story-teller who has a way of invading even the coldest hard-hearted listener with his tender soul and beautiful melodies.

Following a performance on The Voice 2016 where Emad performed a Jesse Younan song, Emad has emerged from the studio with his debut EP, ‘Because Everything Changes’. Working with multi-talented producer Sean Carey (ex-Thirsty Merc), the EP is a collection of emotive and melodic folk/pop songs chronicling his life experience, cut glass and polite with a harder and darker melancholy bubbling underneath.
