Are you a young artist feeling underwhelmed by your creative opportunities? Never fear - we have assembled a panel of skilled DIY experts to help you navigate the arts world with confidence and build your creative resilience.

Artists are always working in challenging environments – whether it be installing onsite in a new venue, or trying to eke out a living from your passion.

How can we work together to build strong communities? How can we continue to create when faced with high living costs, a competitive job market and limited funding? How can you get your fantastic project off the ground?

Presented by Pine Street Creative Arts Centre as part of Youth Week, our panel of DIY stars will share helpful advice on how to make your own opportunities and navigate the obstacles of a creative career.

Moderator: Natalie Wadwell

Creative instigator and writer, Natalie is also founder of Wadwell Initatives, which promotes community partnerships in the arts.

Bastian Fox Phelan

Bastian is a successful gender fluid writer, zine maker and musician. Their popular zines include 'How To Be Alone' and 'Ladybeard', which are held in the National Gallery of Australia. Bastian also performs and writes music as part of Moonsign.

Peter Strong

Peter is a practicing artist, mobile sound system designer and electronic music producer he has also put energy into projects that blend party and protest including Reclaim The Streets.

Kelly Doley

Kelly an independent artist, curator and arts worker who has been initiating projects for over 9 years.

Rebecca Conroy

Rebecca is an interdisciplinary creature working across site, community engagement, and performative interventions through artist led activity.
