Anastasia Parmson is an Estonian artist with Siberian roots and a French education, currently living and working in Sydney. She uses line drawing as her primary artistic medium while mixing it with new technologies and tools.

She believes that in order to make truly contemporary art it is essential to use the newest tools and methods available. This is why she started using social media as an artistic medium – a way to draw the world closer and connect with her audience in a new way. In 2016 she created a Snapchat piece about a lost friendship.

“Will You Be My Friend?” – an interactive project conceived specifically for the 107 Window Box – is about feeling lonely in a big city and inviting viewers to reach out to the artist via social media.

“Being an artist working away in your studio can be very isolating. And the older you get the harder it becomes to make new friends,” Parmson explains. The project will take place on Instagram and Snapchat and its possible continuations will be informed by the interactions and encounters that take place during the exhibition period.
